World Sustainable Transport Day is celebrated annually on 26th November to promote the importance of developing transport systems that are environmentally friendly. As cities grow and the world works towards a greener future, the need for sustainable transport solutions becomes even more critical. Focusing on key areas such as reducing carbon emissions, easy access and enhanced safety, this day encourages society to focus on how we effectively develop transport systems.
The shift to sustainable transport is necessary in the context of the global climate crisis, where fossil fuel-based transport systems are significant contributors to greenhouse gas emissions. The adoption of electric vehicles is a crucial component of this transition due to its potential to transform urban landscapes, enhance air quality, and ultimately lead to healthier communities. Approximately a quarter of global greenhouse gas emissions derive from the transport industry. Shifting towards more sustainable methods is essential for mitigating climate change and preserving the environment for future generations.
Electric vehicles (EVs) are emerging at the forefront of this transport revolution, offering cleaner and more efficient alternatives to traditional internal combustion engines. EVs have a 50 to 80% better carbon footprint than their petrol counterparts. However, to fully realise the environmental benefits of EVs, it is crucial to support their adoption with robust sustainable EV charging infrastructure.
At PoGo Charge, we’re committed to this mission by ensuring that our charging sites operate on 100% renewable energy. This commitment not only aligns with the goals of World Sustainable Transport Day but also significantly reduces drivers’ carbon footprint. This means that every time an EV driver plugs into our charging network, they are not just recharging their vehicle, but also contributing to a more sustainable energy landscape. By investing in renewable energy sources, we provide clean power that empowers users to charge their vehicles without contributing to fossil fuel consumption, making green transportation accessible and responsible. Since the beginning of this year, we have saved 1659.7 tonnes of CO2 emissions to date.
Moreover, our infrastructure is designed with user-friendliness in mind; by adopting new technology, we offer efficient, reliable, and convenient charging solutions. With features such as real-time updates on charger availability, accessible bays and multiple payment options, we make transitioning to electric a seamless experience for drivers. Through our commitment to innovation and sustainability, we not only enhance the customer experience, but also support broader sustainability goals that align with World Sustainable Transport Day’s mission.
Through community engagement and partnerships, we work diligently to expand the network of charging stations powered by renewable energy. This not only promotes the use of electric vehicles but also highlights the importance of integrating sustainable practices into our daily lives. Together, with consumers, businesses, and local governments, we can pave the way for a future where transportation contributes positively to our planet.
