As one of the UK’s fastest growing ultra-rapid electric vehicle networks, we are thrilled to be a checkpoint host for the upcoming EV Rally Our involvement is a testament to our commitment to growth and collaboration as we showcase our partnership with Northern Powergrid (NPG), the electrical distribution company, and M Core, the national commercial property and investment collective.
Starting on July 1st and lasting for five days, the EV Rally is a ‘demonstration’ of EV charging infrastructure with the goal of raising awareness of the role that EVs can play in decarbonising UK transport and helping businesses to reach the goal of net zero.
We will provide the charging for Checkpoint G at M Core owned M Galleries Shopping Centre, Washington on the second day of the rally. The site will feature eight PoGo Touch Plus Ultra-Rapid DC charging points which will in fact be the first of an incredible 658 EV charging points that will ultimately be delivered nationwide in a first-phase deal between PoGo Charge and London and Cambridge Properties (LCP), part of M Core.
Dan Rainsden, Commercial Director at LCP, said: “We’re really excited to be part of the EV Rally and celebrate our partnership with PoGo. Electric chargers are crucial to our strategy of enhancing the experience of EV users visiting our retail destinations and through our partnership with PoGo we are currently installing charge points in 89 locations across our UK portfolio. The rally will provide us with a great platform to further demonstrate our commitment and offering.”
The site also marks the continued working partnership with Northern Powergrid, the company that manages the electricity network for the North-East, Yorkshire and northern Lincolnshire as it gets set to energise over 20 PoGo Charge sites across its operating region.
Siobhan Barton, Head of Sustainability and Regional Engagement for Northern Powergrid, said: “We’re really excited to be taking part in this year’s EV rally alongside PoGo and LCP.
“At Northern Powergrid, we’re working hard to ensure that our network will support the rapid uptake of electric vehicles we’re expecting in the next few years.
“Collaborating with partners like PoGo and LCP to deliver essential charging infrastructure will be key to enabling the efficient decarbonisation of transport in our region and we’re playing our part by significantly increasing the number of ultra-low emission vehicles in our operational fleet.”
Our Managing Director, Stuart Douglas, is delighted to be hosting the checkpoint at the EV Rally: “The EV Rally provides the opportunity to demonstrate our commitment to innovation and accessibility in EV charging, the quality of our state-of-the-art Ultra-Rapid technology, and desire to partner with impressive organisations such as NPG and LCP in our shared support of businesses transitioning to an electric future.”
