What’s the Big Deal?
Our team has been hard at work researching to give each of our sites and chargers a unique name tied to a local theme that reflects the area’s culture, history, or interesting facts. From historical landmarks to fun facts and pop culture, your charging experience is about to get a whole lot more interesting!
Whether it’s a famous movie or an exciting local event, our chargers will now have their own identity. Imagine charging up at a site inspired by the world of video games, or learning something new about the region as you plug in.

To make this even easier for you, we’ve created an online library where you can search through these themes by location or charger name. Want to learn more about a charger named after your favourite local landmark? Or discover the story behind the theme of a nearby charger? You can do all of that, plus check out real-time availability and charger speeds.

Why Are We Doing This?
We believe that charging should be more than just a stop on your journey. It should be an experience that connects you to the places you visit. By giving each of our chargers a name tied to a local theme, we’re bringing you closer to the communities we serve.
Plus, this gives you something fun and new to look forward to every time you need a charge. From local trivia to seasonal events, you’ll always find something exciting to learn at our charging sites.
Here’s How It Works
- Searchable Themes: Our catalogue of sites and chargers will be searchable via their theme/name/address, giving you fun insights into local culture, history, famous people, or special events.
- Real-Time Info: You’ll be able to see not just the charger names but also live availability, on-site amenities and the charging speed at each site.
- Our Chargers: Our PoGo Touch units will display the theme names of the site and charger you are visiting, simply scan the on-screen QR code to find out more.

Spotlight on our Derby Site
To give you an example of this new concept, we would like to Introduce our Derby site theme which takes inspiration from Derby’s rich connection to the world of video games—Charge Raiders! This theme is a nod to the birthplace of the iconic video game Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, which was developed in Derby. Click here to see more.
Our Derby hub is now home to the Charge Raiders, with chargers named after Lara Croft and some of the key characters from the popular series.
The Chargers at Derby:
- Lara – Named after the fearless adventurer herself, Lara Croft, who became a global icon and a symbol of the gaming industry.
- Jaqueline – Jacqueline is the main antagonist, often serving as an intriguing ally or adversary to Lara on her adventures.
- Larson – Known for being a daring and occasionally unscrupulous adventurer who often crosses paths with Lara in the pursuit of treasure.
- Scion – A powerful and ancient artifact in the Tomb Raider series, central to the game’s plot. It is a mysterious, relic of immense power, sought after by both Lara and her enemies
